The objective of the foundation Silver in Motion in Schoonhoven, the
Netherlands includes the advancement of the art of the silversmith
[national and international] and the development of silversmith
capabilities and artistic design in silver
Within this context Silver in Motion has created an annual program
to facilitate talented potential silversmith and artist/designers -
based on affinity with metal (craft) - and to offer them the
opportunity to (further) develop themselves with the support and
assistance of experienced silversmith coaches in master classes and
on an individual basis.
This Program of Excellence gives the (‘post-graduate’) participants
the opportunity to master and perfect silversmith skills,
(innovative) techniques, designing capabilities and related
expertise, while starting to become professional artist silversmiths
with earning opportunities during the program year. This implies a
program based on an individual development plan with personal
development objectives and personal motivation and dedication.
The silversmith coaches of Silver in Motion will merely assist and
support the participants in achieving the participant’s personal
goals and scores. |

Participation on an individual basis with personal objectives and
commitment.
Participants will be selected by Silver in Motion in consideration
of talent assessment and development potential, based on an
application with biography, metal craft skill level indication,
portfolio and motivation.
All program elements are optional, although the coaches may
recommend specific master classes, excursions, lectures per subject
as relevant development requirements in function of the
participant’s goals.
Silver in Motion will offer silversmith facilities to the (maximal
6) participants with well equipped workshops to be shared by the
participants and/or by hosting participants in workshops of the
(minimal 2) silversmith coaches or their colleagues in Schoonhoven
and see to adequate support in this respect.
In the initial phase (first 2 months) the individual development
needs and objectives of each participant will be assessed. The
assessment will serve as basis for the development plan, work plan
and planning thereof. Regular review of these plans will take place
in order to monitor progress and to fine-tune or revise the designed
development routes. At the end of the program year the participants
will receive a Certificate of successful completion of Silver in
Motion’s Program of Excellence.
Participants will gradually built an oeuvre of silver objects in the
course of the program year - by way of start of their own sales
collection with silver objects of own signature -, which will be
exhibited in a silver gallery at the end of the program year and may
be included - commission tariff based - in the presentation on art
fairs by the involved silversmiths related to Silver in Motion,
subject to selection of the available objects by the respective
silversmiths in consideration of the qualities of the objects.
Participants and coaches will liaise and cooperate in a constructive
way in order to have a pleasant working environment for all during
the program year.
Silver in Motion targets an international group of participants in
order to stimulate cross-border cultures and designing perspectives. |

The Board of the Foundation
of Silver in Motion has decided to postpone the Program of
Excellence for the year 2010-2011.
This does not mean that graduated silversmiths/artists who are
interested can’t apply for a period of intensive training with one
or more of the silversmiths involved in Silver in Motion. They can!
The artistic aspirations of the candidate will be the starting point
for the coaching by these silversmiths. In that way the candidate
will develop her/his artistic and technical qualities while building
up his/her own collection of work.
